New publication: Optimising outbreak investigation
Emerging infectious diseases threaten global aquaculture, with risks increasing due to climate change and human impacts. Metatranscriptomic sequencing offers a powerful, unbiased tool to identify pathogens and analyze host responses during outbreaks and surveillance. To integrate this approach, we emphasize the need for upskilling, user-friendly bioinformatics, open data sharing, and clear reporting frameworks to safeguard aquaculture health and trade.
